Powerful Governments And The Powerless People?

first of all i know little about politics and how it all runs and this will be obviouse to you.im 25 years old,i had always believed that governments and the politics that go with it,was always whats best for you and i and everyone else.but until recently ive discovered this isnt the case at all is it?ppl never have a say,well i guesse they do,they may jump and scream up and down for something that needs to be built or done but it wont.but why not?,its our money.if its something needs to be done thats reasonable,the country or state can afford then why not?i live in sydney and we are desperate for more public transport and new roads,freeways,motorways,hell even a new iconic landmark structure would be nice.but we yell in desperation but nothing,its like governments are on some sort off 'ahhhh ill do it tmorow' timeline.out of touch to whats happening on the floor.and it dosent matter if its labour,liberal or any other counties equivalent.i thought governments cared.what an outrage
