Does anyone else feel bad for Richard Nixon at the end of Frost/Nixon?

The watergate scandal and subsequent interviews were before i was born as well as being in another county, so i guess the betrayal Americans felt is lost on me. But i cant help feeling bad for the guy as it would suck to be hated/villainised by an entire country.
